The research conference will be held at Conrad Tokyo Hotel.   We plan to have 15 minutes available for each presentation. Each conference room will be equipped with a  projector and a screen.  So you need to bring your USB Flash Drive.  Please prepare your presentation in Power Point and save it in PDF.  Files on your USB Flash should be in PDF.  The conference schedule will be sent to all registered authors in July 2024.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

 

Dr. Cenap Ilter

California State University Stanislaus, CA

 Topic: Exploring the Effects of Inflation on Financial Statements

 Dr. Cenap Ilter has completed all his studies in Turkey. He received a BA from Bosphorous University Istanbul in 1982. Joined the army for compulsory military service in the same year, completed it in 1984. The same year joined the MA cohort at Istanbul University Faculty of Economics. Completed his MA in 1985 and PhD in 1990 in Istanbul University. His main area of study has been accounting and auditing. He obtained an Associate Professorship certificate upon completion of various domestic and international publishing and passing an oral test given by a jury of full professor appointed by Council of Higher Education in Turkey in 2010. 

 

Dr.Ilter has long years of industry experience. After the military service he worked as an auditor at PMM (known as KPMG) Istanbul and London Offices. He then worked in banking for three years and went into manufacturing industry. He mainly worked in mining and cement industries but also had a chance of working in holding companies whose main area was servicing rather than manufacturing. During his industry and service years he held top financial positions in various companies. Overall he has 22 years of business experience after serving the military in Turkey. He has both CPA-Turkey and CMA-Canada designations.  

 

Dr.Ilter and his family immigrated to Canada in 2006 and he taught accounting classes at MacEwan University in Edmonton until 2013. He and his family moved to US in 2013 and since then he`s been working as an Associate Professor of accounting at California State University Stanislaus campus. His current research interests are accounting fraud, inflation accounting, and research on macro economic factors on development.

Dr. Steven Taylor

Professor of Marketing

Illinois State University, IL

 

Dr. Steven Taylor is a Professor of Marketing who joined the faculty of Illinois State University in the Fall of 1992. He received his Ph.D. in Marketing from the Florida State University (1992). Prior to entering academics, Dr. Taylor enjoyed managerial experiences with the US Navy (seven years), as well as the drug screening, pharmaceutical sales, and hospital management industries.

 

Dr. Taylor's areas of expertise concern Services Marketing, Relationship Marketing, and eBusiness with an emphasis on how the service quality, value, satisfaction, and loyalty constructs operate in consumer models of judgment and decision making. Professor Taylor has published 50 refereed academic journal articles in his academic career to date across numerous journal outlets such as the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Service Research, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Service Management, British Journal of Social Psychology, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Insurance Issues, Journal of Product and Brand Management, International Journal of E-Business Research, among numerous others. He has also published many refereed proceedings and invited book chapters. Most recently, Dr. Taylor has focused on attitude-based models of human decision-making in consumer contexts, including a series of articles investigating digital piracy behaviors.

 

In addition to regularly serving as an ad hoc reviewer for numerous marketing journals, Dr. Taylor also recently served for a decade as the Co-Editor of the Journal of Consumer Satisfaction, Dissatisfaction & Complaining Behavior, currently serving as an Associate Editor for the journal since 2014. Dr. Taylor has also been a long-term member of the Editorial Review Boards of the Journal of Service Research (founding member) and the Journal of Service Management.  He has consulted across a wide variety of industries, including recent projects for insurance, retail, health care, and manufacturing concerns.

 

Professor Taylor was recently named the Hinderliter Chair of Business (2012-2013). He has previously been honored with the Outstanding Reviewer for the Journal of Service Research (2007), Illinois State University Outstanding Researcher (2013), Mannehan College of Business Outstanding Teaching Award (2001), Illinois State University Teaching Initiative Award (1997), the Illinois State University Caterpillar Scholar (1998, 2003), the Illinois State University College of Business Outstanding Researcher Award (1997, 2009), the Wilma Jean Alexander Technology  Innovation Award (1997), and the Illinois State University Research Initiative Award (1995). Dr. Taylor has been married to his wife Michel for 30 years, and they have three children.

Dr. Sonia Dalmia

Professor of Economics

Grand Valley State University, MI

 

Dr. Sonia Dalmia is a Professor of Economics at the Seidman College of Business, Grand Valley State University. She received a B.A. degree in Economics (Honors) and a B.Ed. degree in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Delhi in India. She also has M.A. degrees in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics and from the University of Oklahoma. Her Ph.D. in Economics is from the University of Iowa. Her current research focuses on the marriage premium, marital matching among immigrants, intra-household allocation and child survival. She has published extensively and is considered an expert on dowries and marital equilibria. Her research is cited both nationally and internationally and has been used as assigned reading in courses taught at Cornell and Columbia University.  Dr. Dalmia has served on the Economics Content Advisory Committee for the Michigan Test for Teaching Certification. She is a sought after speaker on the issues of wage gap and gender inequality in the workplace. She has also done extensive consulting on SROI of welfare to work programs, status of women in Michigan, health care economic forecast and women’s economic self-sufficiency. She currently serves as a reviewer for a number of academic journals.

Dr. Kuan-Chou Chen

Professor, Department Head

Purdue University Calumet, Hammond, IN

 

Topic: Business Education Trends: Integrating Business Analytics Curriculum with Existing Business Program

 

Kuan C. Chen is Department Head and Professor of Department of Information Systems at Purdue University Calumet. His primary teaching responsibilities are in management information systems, database management, computer programming, e-business, decision support systems, knowledge management, project management, supply chain management, and system analysis and design. Research interests are focused on the system management, network design and security, instructional design for information technology training, data mining, system dynamics, and information technology economics of information systems, network security, and applications of neural networks to network design. In his consulting career, he specialized in database design and management, information technology project evaluation and feasibility studies, web site planning and analysis, and networking planning and design. Prior to coming back academia, Dr. Chen worked as information analyst and project manager for four years. Dr. Chen received a 2005-2006 outstanding teaching award in Purdue University Calumet. Dr. Chen also was nominated three times outstanding scholar award in Purdue University Calumet.

 

Dr. Chen holds two Ph.D. degrees from the Michigan State University as well as an MBA degree in Management Sciences from National Cheng-Kung University at Taiwan. He has published more than 50 journal articles and 70 conference proceedings in information systems, decision support systems, data mining, instructional design, and systems thinking model. He is an active participant in several professional journals and serves on two journals reviewer boards: Journal of Management Information Systems, and International Journal of Electronically Commerce. He taught at several universities: Lansing Community College, Purdue University West Lafayette, Bowling Green State University, IVY Tech State College, and Davenport University. Dr. Chen was nominated as a 2006, 2007, 2009 outstanding scholar award in Purdue University Calumet.
